INEC Warns Nigerians Against Fake Website Announcing Fresh Voter Registration

INEC Voter Registration

THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has alerted Nigerians to a fraudulent website falsely announcing the commencement of a new nationwide online voter registration exercise.

The commission said the fake website claims that the registration exercise will run from September 28 to October 27, 2026.

News Point Nigeria reports that INEC identified the website as tinyurl.com/inecnigeria-cv, saying it is not affiliated with the commission and that the information published on it is false.

“The commission wishes to categorically inform the general public that the website below is FAKE and has no affiliation whatsoever with INEC,” the electoral body said.

The commission urged members of the public not to click on the link or provide personal information through the platform, warning that doing so could expose them to the risk of having their sensitive data harvested or misused.

“Members of the public are strongly advised not to click on the link or submit any personal information on the website, as doing so may expose them to the risk of having their sensitive personal data harvested or misused,” the commission said.

INEC also stated that the nationwide voter registration exercise ended on July 26, 2026. It further clarified that claims that a new nationwide online registration exercise is currently ongoing through the website are false.

The commission urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify electoral information through its official communication channels.

“The public is advised to disregard the fraudulent website and rely only on information issued through the commission’s official channels,” the commission said.

INEC advised members of the public to contact its Call Centre on 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632), use the short code 4632, or call 090844444333 or 09050858629 for information on its activities. The commission’s official contact page currently lists these same hotlines and the ICCC email address.

The commission said it can also be reached via iccc@inec.gov.ng, while electoral information is available through its official website and news portal.
