AS Muslims across the world commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), Hon. Abdullah Mahmud Gaya, Independent Non-Executive Director of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), has urged Muslims to reflect deeply on the virtues, values, and exemplary life of the noble Prophet.
In a goodwill message issued by his Media Office made available to News Point Nigeria in Kano, to mark this year’s Maulud Nabiyy, Gaya described Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a timeless role model whose teachings remain a guide for humanity.
“As we celebrate the birth of our noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW), let us reflect on his virtues and teachings, and strive to follow his example in our daily lives. Let us embrace the values of compassion, peace, and mutual support, as preached by our beloved Prophet,” he said.
The former lawmaker, who also serves as Non-Executive Director (Asset and Liability) at the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO), called on Nigerians both Muslims and non-Muslims to use the season as an opportunity to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the country.
He reminded Nigerians that Prophet Muhammad’s message of love, fairness, humility, and service to humanity is as relevant today as it was more than 1,400 years ago, particularly at a time when the nation is in need of unity and moral guidance.
Gaya emphasized that celebrating Maulud should go beyond rituals, urging Muslims to internalize the Prophet’s values of tolerance, kindness, and devotion to God, which he said are crucial to building a more harmonious society.
“The Prophet’s life was a lesson in leadership, patience, justice, and compassion. These are qualities our society needs today, and it is our duty as Muslims to reflect them in our daily lives,” he added.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with socio-economic and security challenges, Gaya urged citizens to intensify prayers for leaders at all levels and to contribute positively to nation-building in the spirit of the Prophet’s teachings.
