BORNO State has overtaken Osun to emerge as the state with the highest number of online pre-registrations in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the latest INEC figures released on Monday for the period September 22 to 28, 2025 obtained by News Point Nigeria, a total of 6,232,673 Nigerians have so far pre-registered online since the commencement of the exercise.
Borno led the chart with 682,805 registrations, representing 10.96 percent of the national total—the highest by any state so far.
Previously consistent front-runner, Osun State, slipped to second place with 599,363 registrations (9.62 percent), while Lagos followed closely with 555,442 (8.91 percent). Others in the top five include Kebbi with 472,662 (7.58 percent) and Ogun with 450,897 (7.23 percent).
The figures show that young Nigerians remain the dominant force in the registration drive. Of the total pre-registrants, 4,230,715 are youths aged 18–34, while 1,565,824 are students, confirming the strong enthusiasm of young people ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Gender analysis revealed that women outnumber men, with 3,250,338 females (52.15 percent) registering compared to 2,982,335 males (47.85 percent).
INEC also disclosed that 137,865 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) have joined the process, reflecting a significant stride in inclusivity.
Beyond online entries, INEC reported that 1,004,132 Nigerians have completed their registrations, combining both online and physical enrolments between September 22 and 26 (week five).
Of these, 537,743 were completed online, while 466,389 were finalised physically at INEC registration centres nationwide.
INEC emphasised that these are preliminary figures, pending data clean-up during the claims and objections phase, and subsequent validation using the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).
