JOINT Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will convene its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions on Monday, May 11, where key decisions regarding the 2026/2027 academic session, including the minimum cut-off marks for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), are expected to be taken.
News Point Nigeria reports that the disclosure was made in a statement issued on Sunday by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
According to the statement, the meeting will hold at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, located at Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja.
Benjamin explained that the annual policy meeting would bring together major stakeholders in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector to deliberate on critical admission issues and policy directions.
He noted that the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, is expected to unveil major policy directions during the gathering.
“The board’s annual policy meeting on admissions is a crucial annual gathering where stakeholders decide minimum tolerable UTME marks, admission guidelines, and policies for tertiary institutions,” the statement read.
“Furthermore, the meeting is expected to, in particular, formally set the tone for the 2026/2027 admission exercise while impressing on attendees the need to adhere strictly to stipulated guidelines.”
According to JAMB, participants expected at the meeting include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars and admission officers from various tertiary institutions across the country.
The board added that representatives of regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission, National Commission for Colleges of Education and the National Board for Technical Education will also attend the event.
Benjamin further disclosed that goodwill messages are expected from organisations including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps, among other stakeholders.
The statement added that the event would also feature the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards.
According to the board, the awards are designed to promote strict compliance with admission guidelines and improve standards in tertiary education across Nigeria.
