A GROUP under the aegis of Yaki da Siyasar Bauta (Group Against Politics of Slavery) in Dawakin-Tofa, Tofa and Rimingado Local Governments Areas of Kano State has dissociated itself from the emergence of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s son, Abba Ganduje as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Dawakin-Tofa/ Rimin-Gado/Tofa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The group made the disclosure in a jointly signed statement issued by its elders and stalwarts of the area, Malam Sani Tofa, Engineer Atiku Ahmed Dungirawa and 11 others on Monday.
The group, comprising retired senior civil servants, businessmen and other stakeholders, said they always kicked against Ganduje’s nepotism since he became the Governor of the State.
According to them, the emergence of Abba as the APC candidate for Dawakin-Tofa/Rimin-Gado/ Tofa in the House of Representatives was a clear indication of Ganduje’s nepotism which had never been supported by the good people of the area.
“We have never supported the idea whereby elites naturally circulate themselves in positions of authority, because there are people better qualified for the positions, but are denied the chance to contest”, the group said.
They maintained that even though the emergence of Abba came after a meeting with some stakeholders and elders of the party in Kano North region, their group was not a party to such arrangements.
The group appealed to Dawakin-Tofa, Tofa and Rimin-Gado Local Government communities to massively kick against this nepotism, which was masterminded to favor Ganduje’s son come Election Day.
According to them, “we believed that nepotism is anti-democracy and we must kick against it in our local government areas. People will vote for the person that will always be associated with us, not someone that will win the election and run away from us”.
The stakeholders beg the entire people to forgive them for supporting Ganduje in the last seven and a half years as Governor of the State and his blatant disregard for the development of the state.
The group, therefore, called on the people of the areas to continue to exercise patience “as truth will definitely prevail soon”.
