KANO State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, popularly known as Abba Gida-Gida has continued with the demolition of ‘illegal’ structures in the state.
News Point Nigeria reports that the governor early hours of Wednesday continued with the demolition with the symbolic Kano Govt House Roundabout.
A source in the Kano Govt House told this newspaper that the governor stepped out of his official residence to personally supervise the demolition of the roundabout, which is just close to the entrance of the Govt House, amidst heavy security.
The demolition, which took less than three hours was cheered by party supporters, a few govt officials present.
News Point Nigeria also reported that, the governor had in the early hours of Sunday, demolished shops built by the fence of Sani Abacha Stadium at Kofar Mata, GSS Kofar Nasarawa facing IBB road and buildings by GGSS Dukawuya, Goron Dutse.
Abba Gida Gida in his campaign promises made pronouncements of commitment to restoring the glory of the state by reclaiming all encroached public land that was used to erect illegal structures particularly those erected in schools, mosques, playgrounds, graveyards, markets, and hospitals as, according to him, doing away with such structures would ensure strict adherence to the urban planning, beautification and safety of the people.
This isn’t a good move.
