THE Adamawa Progressive Elders Council has congratulated Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda on his election as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his emergence as a major milestone for the party and the broader progressive movement in Nigeria.
In a statement sent to News Point Nigeria by its leadership, the council, chaired by former military administrator and elder statesman Mohammed Buba Marwa, said Yilwatda’s election reflects his proven leadership capacity, integrity, and the confidence reposed in him by party stakeholders nationwide.
General Marwa (rtd) said the emergence of Professor Yilwatda comes at a critical time in Nigeria’s political evolution, noting that the APC requires visionary leadership to consolidate its gains and reposition itself ahead of future political challenges.
“We are immensely proud to see a man with acknowledged progressive credentials such as Professor Nentawe assume this important role at this critical moment in our history,” Marwa said.
He described the development as not only a personal victory for Yilwatda but also a broader win for Nigerians who believe in the ideals of inclusivity, good governance, and national development.
The council expressed strong confidence in the new APC chairman’s ability to unite party members, deepen internal democracy, and steer the ruling party toward greater achievements.
According to Marwa, Yilwatda’s track record and dedication to public service position him as a capable leader who can strengthen party structures and enhance its national appeal.
“His election is a demonstration of the APC’s commitment to inclusivity and progress. We believe he has the capacity to lead the party to greater heights and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he added.
The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council also called on APC members across the country, as well as Nigerians in general, to rally behind Yilwatda to ensure the success of his tenure.
The group emphasised the need for unity within the party, stressing that collective effort would be crucial in achieving the APC’s political and developmental objectives.
“We urge all members of the party and indeed all Nigerians to support him and work together to achieve the party’s goals and contribute to the betterment of our society,” Marwa stated.
The council pledged its full support to the new APC chairman, assuring him of its commitment to collaborate in strengthening the party’s vision and direction.
It also offered prayers for wisdom, strength, and success as he assumes leadership of one of Nigeria’s most influential political parties.
The statement was signed by Ahmad I. Sajoh, Head of Media and Publicity of the Adamawa Progressive Elders Council.
