ADC Jigawa Guber Campaign Rejects Petition Against Sabo Nakudu, Threatens Legal Action

THE Sabo Mohammed Nakudu/Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim Campaign Organisation of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected a petition allegedly circulated against its governorship candidate, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, describing it as malicious, defamatory and politically orchestrated.

    NEW UBA

News Point Nigeria reports that the campaign organisation said the petition, dated July 7, 2026, was purportedly signed by two individuals, Abubakar Sani and Ibrahim Mai Jama’a, who claimed to be members of the ADC from Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

In a statement signed by Mati Ali, Media and Publicity Directorate of the Sabo Mohammed Nakudu/Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim Campaign Organisation, the group accused those behind the petition of attempting to generate unnecessary controversy and mislead the public ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The organisation said the petition titled “Petition Against Sen. Sabo Nakudu, an ADC Gubernatorial Aspirant in Jigawa State…” was circulated to various media organisations by Mallam Bello Zaki of Kazaure Local Government Area, whom it described as a known political associate of one of the founding leaders of the ADC in Jigawa State.

“We categorically, unequivocally and unreservedly reject the petition in its entirety. Its contents are false, malicious, defamatory and deliberately crafted to tarnish the impeccable reputation, credibility and political standing of the Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu, CON,” the statement said.

The campaign organisation alleged that the petition was part of a wider political conspiracy by individuals uncomfortable with the growing popularity and acceptance of the Sabo Mohammed Nakudu/Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim governorship ticket across Jigawa State.

It further claimed that the increasing influence of the ADC as a political alternative ahead of the 2027 elections had intensified attacks against its candidate.

According to the statement, some disgruntled political actors within and outside the party, who were unhappy with the outcome of internal democratic processes, had allegedly joined forces with vested interests to undermine the aspirations of Jigawa residents.

The campaign organisation stated that the alleged objective of the sponsors was to distract Senator Nakudu, weaken the ADC and slow down what it described as the party’s growing political momentum across the state.

It insisted that Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu had never been convicted of or found guilty of any act of corruption or misconduct, describing the allegations contained in the petition as recycled political narratives that had repeatedly surfaced during previous election seasons.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Sabo Mohammed Nakudu has never been convicted of, nor found culpable for, any act of corruption or misconduct as maliciously insinuated by the petitioners,” the statement added.

The organisation said Nakudu’s record in business and public service remained a testament to his commitment to the development of Jigawa State.

It noted that before entering politics, Nakudu built a successful international business career spanning more than three decades and later ventured into public service with the aim of improving the lives of the people through responsible leadership and representation.

The campaign also highlighted what it described as Nakudu’s developmental initiatives, infrastructural interventions, philanthropic activities and people-oriented programmes, saying his contributions could not be erased through what it called propaganda and false allegations.

The statement accused desperate politicians lacking confidence in their ability to compete based on ideas and public acceptance of resorting to blackmail, fabricated petitions and character assassination as the 2027 elections approach.

The organisation warned individuals or groups involved in the creation, sponsorship, publication and distribution of the petition that it would pursue legal action to protect the integrity and reputation of its candidate.

“While we continue to examine the circumstances surrounding this malicious publication, we wish to unequivocally place every individual or group connected with the conception, sponsorship, financing, publication and dissemination of this defamatory material on notice that appropriate legal action shall be instituted against them,” it stated.

The campaign urged ADC members, supporters, stakeholders and residents of Jigawa State to disregard what it described as a baseless petition designed to distract the party and undermine the goodwill enjoyed by Senator Nakudu.

It maintained that its focus remained on presenting practical solutions, progressive policies and a clear vision for a prosperous and economically vibrant Jigawa State.

The organisation expressed confidence that the ADC would continue to grow stronger across the state and that, by the grace of Almighty Allah, the people of Jigawa State would support the Sabo Mohammed Nakudu/Mallam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim ticket in the 2027 general elections.
