DOZENS of passengers were left stranded and spent the night at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja after a late cancellation of their Kano-bound flight by Max Air at 2:30am after a seven-hour delay.
According to some angry passengers who spoke to News Point Nigeria early Saturday, no reason was given for the cancellation of the flight, which was scheduled to depart the Abuja Airport at 7:30pm.
“Few minutes before the schedule time for boarding at 7pm, the first announcement came that the flight would be delayed for about four hours, which meant the departure time was 11:30pm.
“We waited for four hours at the airport and just an hour to the time, another announcement came that the flight has been delayed for another hour, making the new departure time 12:30am.
“And then after waiting for a total of seven hours, the final cancellation announcement of the flight came at 2am – the flight was cancelled with no reason given. We were asked to check for new flight time at the counter by 3:30pm Saturday.
“And once lady announced the final cancellation over the PA system, all the Max Air officials took off, and were nowhere to be found.
“This is not fair. This is not right. How can any airline do that to its passengers. We had to spend the night at the airport and here we are this morning stranded with no explanation”, the passengers lament.
When News Point Nigeria contacted the company via one of its listed phone numbers, an agent referred our reporter to a WhatsApp contact number. However, News Point Nigeria’s message to this number was yet to be responded to at press time.
