A FEDERAL High Court sitting in Kano has granted an order for leave to immediately investigate, arrest and prosecute the Kano State APC chairman Abdullahi Abbas over threat to life, distraction of peace and hate speeches.
Mr. Mahmoud Lamido, a citizen of Kano has approached the court through his counsel Barr. Bashir Yusuf Muhammad Tudun Wazirchi seeking for the immediate arrest of the APC chairman Abdullahi Abbas for issuing a threat to his life via phone call insinuating that he would kill him (sai na batar da kai).
Justice S.A. Amobeda of the Federal High Court 3 sitting in Kano granted the order and adjourned to 16th of February to monitor compliance.
Recall the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has written the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, seeking the prosecution of the APC Chairman in February, last year.
“Attack and punish anybody you see trying to steal votes during the election in 2023. Take stiffer action into your hands and nothing will be done. I have ordered you to punish anybody seen before ballots boxes trying to rig the election, this is my punishment, and nothing will happen.
“I call on our party youths to keep their weapons for now as there will be a better time to use them,” Abbas stated this during the swearing-in ceremony of the 44 newly elected local government chairmen held at Kano Pillars Stadium.
Abbas had previously made similar statements considered by the opposition party in the state as inciting.
