THE Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, on Wednesday summoned all air component commanders of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to a high-level operational meeting at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, issuing fresh directives to escalate air offensives against terrorists and armed criminal groups nationwide.
News Point Nigeria gathered that the strategic session, held behind closed doors, comes amid renewed militant activities in some theatres of operation and the ongoing push by security forces to restore stability across troubled regions.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the gathering was convened to reassess strategy, tighten operational coordination, and boost combat efficiency under the current leadership.
“The meeting provided a platform to harmonize strategies, strengthen inter-service cooperation, and ensure that the Nigerian Air Force remains a decisive instrument of national security and a symbol of hope for citizens,” Ejodame stated.
In his directive to the commanders, Air Marshal Aneke emphasized the need for precision airstrikes, intelligence-driven targeting, and a heightened tempo of operations across all fronts.
“We must fly smarter and strike harder not only to neutralize threats but to protect the lives and property of Nigerians. Every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” he declared.
Aneke noted that the rapidly evolving security landscape requires improved synchronization between air, land, and maritime components of the military to achieve decisive battlefield dominance.
“Our operations must be intelligence-led, coordinated, and focused. We will continue to work closely with sister services and other security agencies to ensure a united front in the fight against terrorism and criminality,” he added.
The Air Chief also reassured personnel of enhanced welfare, modern equipment, and continuous capacity development to support mission success.
“Every airman and airwoman has a role to play in achieving our collective vision. You will be equipped, trained, and motivated to deliver results,” he affirmed.
Aneke further stressed that NAF will continue to uphold international standards of conduct and accountability, even as it applies decisive force against those threatening national peace.
“We will act with discipline, humanity, and professionalism. Nigeria is counting on us and we will not fail,” he vowed.
