AS part of the activities marking 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration, the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), 3 Brigade Chapter, led by its Zonal Coordinator, Mrs Zainab Tukur Mohammed, presented food items to widows of fallen heroes, that made ultimate sacrifices in their brave service to their fatherland.

Mrs Tukur who made the presentation on 15 January 2025, at 3  Brigade NAOWA Nursery School Premises, Kano, urged the widows of the fallen heroes to be strong and courageous, adding that, the presentation was in line with the vision of NAOWA President, Mrs Mernan Oluyede, to reach out to the widows of our fallen heroes.

Mrs Tukur, who was represented by Mrs Zainab Abubakar, handed over the kind gesture to the widows and the  Secretary Naowa 3 Brigade Chapter, Mrs Nana Gwadabe Hamza added that it has been their mandate and taken it as core responsibility and part of their activities in Naowa to take good care of the widows and their orphans because the fallen heroes sacrificed their lives for the nation and will be part of them forever.

“They will never be forgotten.” She further called on the society and good people of Nigeria to always remember the Nigerian Armed Forces and barracks communities in their prayers and kind gesture.

In her message, Mrs Tukur said, “I want to use this opportunity to encourage and pray to our dear sisters and wives of our fallen great men, to remain strong for us and your various families, be very hopeful and engage in positive ventures that would create better life for yourselves, your children and other members of your family in future”.

The NAOWA 3 Brigade Chapter Coordinator further pledged that the Association shall from time to time come up with programmes that would benefit widows as the year progresses; urging them to endeavour to take advantage of the vocational training of the various skill acquisition programmes being packaged by NAOWA.

Items donated include Rice, Semovita, Spaghetti, Tomato paste, Vegetable oil, salt, Maggi, Textile matterials (Wrappers), as well as Cash donation to 25 widows.

One of the beneficiaries during the event, Mrs Blessing Anthony, while expressing joy for the items received, said her husband died fighting insurgency in the northeast.

She extended special appreciation to the leadership of NAOWA for their kind generosity; praying God to keep directing the executives of NAOWA in their various levels to continue their good works.
