GUBERNATORIAL candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, is ahead of Nasir Gawuna, his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, with over 10,000 votes in the nine Local Government Areas so far declared at the state collation center. The LGAs are Rano, Rogo, Makoda, Kunchi, Wudil, Karaye, Tsanyawa, Minjibir and Albasu. The NNPP has so far polled 153,103 votes while APC trails with 142,981, leaving a margin of 10,122. JOURNALISTS in Kano have accused the Independent Electoral Commission of selecting few of their members to cover the governorship and State Houses of Assembly results collation, and threatened to boycott the process if such was not corrected immediately. A FORMER councillor of Getso ward, Ibrahim Nakuzama, has been reportedly shot dead over alleged ballot box snatching. Nakuzama was said to have been gunned down by security operatives in Gwarzo local government area of Kano, on Saturday. AT least 10 ballot boxes have been destroyed across several polling units in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of Kano State. A FIRE outbreak has razed shops at a popular commodity market, Singer Market, in Kano State. The fire, according to eyewitnesses, started mid night, but it couldn’t be controlled until around 8am.
