GOVERNOR Abba Yusuf presented a historic N549.16 billion 2025 budget to the Kano State House of Assembly, prioritising education, health, and infrastructure. KANO residents are complying with the no-movement order, in preparation for the local government elections scheduled to hold in the state today. JUSTICE Simon Ameboda of the Federal High Court in Kano has restrained the State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) from conducting the local government councils election scheduled to hold on Saturday. The judge held that the appointment of chairman and members of the commission, being card card-carrying members of NNPP, was in contravention of sections 197(1) and 200(1) of the 1999 constitution as amended and section 4(b) of Kano state independent electoral commission law 2001. A FEDERAL High Court sitting in Kano on Thursday sentenced a 67-year-old Lebanese, Zuhier R Akar, to 14 years imprisonment for sexually exploiting two teenage girls. SEVEN persons have been confirmed dead and about a dozen others hospitalised following a suspected cholera outbreak in Kanye Village of Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State.
