THE President MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has expressed deep shock over the sudden death of proprietor of Hotel National Maradi-Niger, Ibrahim Garba popularly known as Katasse. Aged 64, Mr. Katasse died on Friday in Maradi-Niger following a brief illness. ONE of the escorts attached to an Abuja-bound train lost his life during a trip, on Thursday afternoon. A passenger, who witnessed the incident, said when the train left Kaduna at 1:30pm, there was no sign that the deceased was unwell. The witness said the late officer later complained of chest pain and sought help before he died. “A police officer, who was one of the escorts on a Abuja-Kaduna train just died. ONE person has been confirmed dead and many were injured in a windstorm which occurred on Tuesday night in the Agbashi Community area of the Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board said it uncovered at least 1,665 fake A’level results during the 2023 Direct Entry registration exercise. The board also said the A’level results verification regime was characterised by corruption associated with the system. THE National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has increased the fare for this year’s pilgrimmage to Saudi Arabia by N1,918,032.91, setting a deadline of March 28, 2024. The Commission announced this in a statement by its spokesperson, Fatima Sanda Usara. It attributed the development to the forex crisis, which Nigeria has been battling for months. A 300-LEVEL student of the Department of Geography, Federal University, Gashua in Yobe State, has been killed in a fire incident at the female hostel of the school in Bade Local Government Area of the state. THE Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union have declared a 7-day warning strike to demand the payment of four months of withheld salaries of their members, after the 2022 nationwide strike.
