DANGOTE Oil Refining Company says its plant is awaiting the second shipment of barrels of crude in three weeks after it received its maiden one million barrels on Friday. The company, in a statement, said the STASCO vessel sailed to the refinery’s single-point mooring, where it was discharged into the refinery’s crude oil from the Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited. THE Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has summoned the acting Director-General, National Commission against the Proliferation of Arms, Light Weapons and Pipeline Vandalism (NATCOM), Mr Adejare Nurudeen Adegbenro, to appear before it following his failure to liquidate an alleged judgment debt. THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the money laundering charge filed against a former Attorney-General of Lagos State, Olasupo Shasore. Shasore was arraigned alongside his company, Middlesex Investments Ltd, on a 14-count charge of money laundering before Justice Inyang Ekwo, in November 2022. At the day’s proceedings, counsel for the EFCC, Bala Sanga, told the judge that the Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, has directed the anti-graft agency via a letter, to withdraw the charge. THE Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Benjamin Ezeukwe for organising a fake sales promo reducing the price of Dangote cement and defrauding Nigerians. THE Chairman, Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc, Bababode Osunkoya, has died at the age of 61. FOREIGN airlines have disclosed that about 90 per cent of their $783m trapped funds have not been unpaid. The airlines stated this during a stakeholders’ forum convened by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in Lagos recently. According to data from the International Air Transport Association, as of August 2023, Nigeria accounted for a substantial $783m of airlines’ blocked funds. NIGERIANS seeking admissions to foreign universities spent $340.84m to fund their application between January and June 2023, findings by this newspaper have shown. This figure is according to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s data on the amount spent on educational services under the sectoral utilisation for transactions valid for foreign exchange. The apex bank said that in April 2023, a total of $40.54m was spent on foreign education, while noting that $48.81m was spent in May 2023. AN Assistant Superintendent of Police, Babatunde Ashifat, on Tuesday, narrated to the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court how a man, Jelili Lawal, raped a 79-year-old woman to death.
