SENATOR Abdul Ningi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared the winner of the Bauchi Central Senatorial District election. Ningi polled 104,878 votes to defeat his close opponent Uba Nana of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 84,621 votes. The result was declared by the returning officer, Professor Ibrahim Danjuma, in Darazo Collation and Declaration Centre in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Meanwhile, Senator Isah Hamma of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) who came third in the race polled 17,995.

OFFICERS of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, led by Commander of the EFCC, Aliyu Yusuf, on 25th February, 2023 arrested two alleged vote buyers in Gusau, Zamfara State. THREE ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Donga local government area of Taraba State have been abducted by unknown gunmen, News Point Nigeria gathered. They were kidnapped in the late hours of Saturday during the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections. A PREGNANT woman, identified as Shamsiya Ibrahim on Saturday slumped and died while waiting on the queue to vote in Tsafe Area of Zamfara State. News Point Nigeria gathered that when the pregnant lady slumped, she was rushed to Tsafe General Hospital where she was confirmed dead upon arrival. THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ordered re-election in nine polling units at Ganaja Village in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi. According to Alhaji Haliru Sule, Kogi INEC Head of Voters Education and Publicity, the order became imperative as scheduled elections couldn’t hold in those units due some logistic problems. PRESIDENTIAL Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has emerged victorious at his polling unit in Jada, Adamawa State. Announcing the results at the end of the voting process, the Presiding officer, Nalawu Phillip, announced that Atiku scored a total of 282 votes as against 57 votes scored by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, his All Progressive Congress (APC) rival. SUSPECTED Boko Haram terrorists stormed Goza town in Goza Local Government Area of Borno State, on Saturday, disrupting voting exercise. ONE person has been killed by soldiers at a check point at Gadan Karofi (Karofi bridge) along CBN Bye Pass in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital. The Taraba state police public relations officer Abdullahi Usman confirmed the incident to News Point Nigeria via a telephone interview. THE police in Gombe State on Saturday confirmed an attack on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s ad hoc staff camped at the Tudunwada Primary School, in Gombe metropolis. THE Bauchi State office of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has arrested one Hassan Ahmad, who was allegedly conveying N2million cash for a politician. The N2million found in Ahmad’s possession consisted of both old and new currencies, despite the naira scarcity witnessed across the country. A FATAL crash that occurred on Thursday afternoon at Nabardo town along Bauchi – Jos road in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State has claimed the lives of 15 people. Seven other people sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crash that was caused by speed violation and dangerous driving. KADUNA State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused the Central Bank of Nigeria of withdrawing N2 trillion from circulation and replacing the old notes by minting only N400 billion.
