A TRAGIC incident occurred in Karshen Kwalta of Rimin Kebe area of Kano metropolis on Wednesday evening when a sixteen-year-old (name withheld) stabbed his own mother, Jummai, to death over a disagreement. THE National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, (NAHCON) has assigned Max Air as the airline to airlift the 5,917 intending pilgrims of Kano state to Saudi Arabia during this year’s Hajj exercise. Executive Secretary of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Muhammad Abba Dambatta, disclosed this at a press conference held in Kano. He added that the airline is efficient and has three aircraft with the capacity that can airlift more than 1,000 pilgrims each. THE ongoing conflict in Sudan may disrupt the smooth airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for 2023 hajj, the Independent Hajj Reporters, has said. The faith-based civil society organization said in a statement on Friday signed by its national coordinator Ibrahim Muhammad that the war has already led to the abrupt shut of the Sudanese airspace. A PROMINENT Kano politician, former SSG in Kano, former Minister of Labour and former pioneer PDP Chieftain, Alhaji Musa Gwadabe is dead. According to family sources, he died Wednesday morning at the age of 87 at a Kano hospital after a a prolonged illness. OVER 300 ad hoc staff members of the National Population Commission (NPC) in Kano have protested over the non-payment of their 18 days’ training allowances since February 2023. SAUDI nationals and others rescued from battle-scarred Sudan arrived by sea to the port city of Jeddah Saturday in the first announced evacuation since fighting broke out, Saudi state television said. “The first evacuation vessel from Sudan has arrived, carrying 50 (Saudi) citizens and a number of nationals from friendly countries,” the official Al-Ekhbariyah television said. THREE persons have been feared dead during a supplementary election in Wudil Local Government Area of Kano State.
