POLICE authorities in Ondo State have confirmed the arrest of a 27-year-old man, Oke Loya for allegedly killing a secondary school student in  Arogbo, Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State. News Point Nigeria gathered that the deceased named Timibra Meretighan was attacked by the suspect at the premises of Ijaw National High School, Arogbo while the students were writing their Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination. A SHOOTOUT erupted between the National Immigration Services and the Western Nigerian Security Network, otherwise known as Amotekun in the Oke-Fia neighbourhood in Osogbo, Osun State. GUNMEN invaded a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ogun State, killed a pastor and abducted some worshippers. The incident occurred at Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state, this weekend. Commander of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the incident on Sunday morning. He said his officers rescued the seven church members and killed one of the kidnappers during the operation. THREE minors, two 11-year-olds, and a 10-year-old were on Friday arraigned in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly killing a peacock. The defendants, whose addresses were not disclosed, were charged with malicious damage. The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on June 11 in Usi-Ekiti. Apata alleged that the defendants killed a peacock worth N1 million belonging to one Agbetuyi, a neighbour with the intent to steal or play with it. DIRECTOR of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transportation, Ibrahim Musa, yesterday, disclosed that the President Bola Tinubu has approved the re-opening of the Seme border for the importation of vehicles. GOVERNOR Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has begun a 21-day medical leave abroad and transmitted power to Lucky Aiyedatiwa, his deputy. In a letter to the House of Assembly, Akeredolu said Aiyedatiwa would function in acting capacity pending the time his leave is over. AT least 17 persons have been kidnapped by gunmen in Ondo and Kwara states.   The assailants abducted 13 travelers along Abuja Road in Isua, Akoko South-East Local Government Area of Ondo State. This newspaper gathered on Thursday that the victims were in transit from Lagos to Abuja in an 18-passenger bus when the gunmen attacked their vehicle. A source who confirmed the incident to journalists in Akure, the state capital, said the attackers whisked the travelers into the bush. A STOREY building has reportedly collapsed in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State. No casualty was, however, recorded. It was gathered that the uncompleted one-storey building collapsed on Thursday around 7 am. Eyewitnesses told News Point Nigeria that the structure located around PZ Estate, Onijagun, went down with no initial sign. A PRIVATE Nigerian Airline, Air Peace Ltd, has sued the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) before the Federal High Court in Lagos over the alleged disruption of its operations by the unions and its officers. The airline is asking the court to award it N1 billion as general damages, N450 million as special damages and N250 million as exemplary damages. THE Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that the newly inaugurated Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals will help Nigeria generate more power for its electricity sector.
