THE Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has affirmed the ruling of the lower court that declared the 2023 election in Birninkudu/Buji federal constituency of Jigawa State inconclusive. In his ruling, chairman of the panel, Justice Ogochuku Anthony Ogakwu, ordered Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct bye election across eight polling units within 30 days. THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested 56-year-old chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Roni Local Government Area, Saleh Idris for allegedly raping and impregnating his housemaid. A FORMER Minister of Interior, Commerce and renowned businessman and politician, Bello Maitama Yusuf, Sardaunan Dutse is dead. Maitama died on Friday morning at the age of 76 after a protracted illness at a Kano hospital, according to family sources. THE Jigawa State Ministry of Health has confirmed the death of 10 people following an outbreak of 91 suspected cases of diphtheria across 14 local government areas in the state. JIGAWA State Task Force on Petroleum Products says it will soon expose and reveal the identity of any filling station found tempering with their pump prices to cheat customers. THE Jigawa State High Court of Justice has sentenced four men to death by hanging and one other to life imprisonment for their crimes.
