PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Hon. Zacch Adedeji as the new Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, announced this in a statement on Thursday. He said the president directed the erstwhile FIRS Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Nami, to proceed on 3 months of pre-retirement leave, as provisioned by Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243, with immediate effect, leading to his eventual retirement from service on December 8, 2023. THE Central Bank of Nigeria may be asked to withdraw its audited annual financial reports which were released last month, according to findings by of this newspaper. This came after a team investigating the apex bank discovered discrepancies and irregularities in the financial accounts. In August, the CBN released its financial accounts for the years 2016 to 2022 amid an ongoing probe of the financial services sector regulator by a Special Investigator appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
