KANO state Agro Pastoral Project, KSADP, has disbursed one hundred and twenty eight million, two hundred and fifty thousand Naira worth of scholarships to 115 indigenes of Kano state. THE authorities in Malawi have suspended primary and secondary schools opening in two major cities following a cholera outbreak that has so far killed 595 people. Schools in the capital, Lilongwe, and the commercial hub, Blantyre, will remain closed for at least two more weeks after the Christmas holidays. DOZENS of inmates have escaped from a prison in northern Mexico after gunmen, suspected to be members of a drug cartel, opened fire on the facility. The men arrived outside the Chihuahua state prison shortly after 07:00 (14:00 GMT) in armoured vehicles and began firing on the guards, authorities say. NO fewer than seven persons were confirmed dead on Sunday while 16 others sustained injuries in an accident involving a Toyota Hiace bus and Mack tanker few meters to Gofamaint on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
