A GROUP of suspected bandits abducted a council secretary and four others during a late-night attack in Sarkin Pawa, Niger State, on Thursday.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama revealed that the abduction occurred around 10 pm on Thursday night.
According to the security analyst, the perpetrators of the attack quietly infiltrated the residence of the Council Secretary, which is located near the riverbank in Sarkin Pawa.
He further revealed bandits and other criminals frequently target this area.
The abductees were identified as Daina Usman, the council secretary; Deborah Daina, the wife of the council secretary; Sati Daina; Gambo Shagari; and Sorro, who is also known as Snu.
The bandits fled with the abductees into Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a route notorious for being an escape route for bandits who operate in the region.
Makama added that security forces have launched an operation to search for the bandits and rescue the abductees.
“Upon receiving a distress call from the local vigilante, security operatives swiftly mobilized a joint task force comprising: Military personnel from Forward Operating Base (FOB), Sarkin Pawa, Niger State Police Tactical Teams and Local vigilante groups to go after the bandits.
“The security forces have since launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the victims.”
