SUSPECTED bandits have reportedly killed six people and abducted 116 farmers in Danmuntari and other villages in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to a report by Daily Trust, the victims were planting guinea corn near the Kebbi-Zamfara border when the attack occurred around 9 am.
Those killed, according to the report, include Mudaha, Al’ameen Mohammed, Safwan Abubakar, Tanko Mohammed, Ibrahim Garba, and a woman, Inno Mudaha.
“This is the fourth major attack in Danko/Wasagu this year. Just two weeks earlier, 15 farmers were killed in the Waje community.
Before that, other attacks left several dead and injured, despite a security presence involving the army, police tactical unit, and vigilantes.
“A local vigilante, Ibrahim Shehu, said the bandits exploited the early farming season, knowing many would be on their farms’’,the report said.
Efforts to reach Danko/Wasagu LG chairman, Husseini Aliyu Bena, and Kebbi police spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar were unsuccessful.
However, a local council source confirmed that the state government has ordered the provision of relief materials and that military operations are ongoing to rescue the abducted.
