THE police in Benue State have confirmed the rescue of six law students who were kidnapped along the boundary between Benue and Taraba states on July 28, 2025.
The students were traveling to the Nigerian Law School in Adamawa State before they were abducted.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Udeme Edet, on Friday, the police said the six law students were traveling from Anambra State to resume at the Yola Campus of the Nigerian Law School when they ran into the kidnappers along the Benue-Taraba boundary.
“Please be informed that the police have successfully rescued six law students of the Yola campus, who were abducted on July 26, 2025, while traveling from Anambra State to Adamawa State, have been safely released and united with their families this morning, August 1, 2025,” the statement read.
The Nigerian Bar Association’s President, Afam Osigwe, had broken the news of the kidnapping of the six law students to Nigerians at the NBA’s North-Central regional security summit held in Makurdi on July 28, lamenting the escalating security threats in the region.
