AN early morning fire has razed the red chamber of Katsina Government House.
The chamber is attached to the governor’s office, where the governor meets important personalities.
Details are sketchy regarding the cause of the fire and the level of damage as at the time of this report.
This newspaper gathered that Governor Dikko Umaru Radda was in Funtua attending a zonal town hall meeting when the calamity struck.
He was there to engage with the population on their needs and aspirations.
The Director of Press to the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
“The committee will also identify lapses (if) any that led to the incident, recommend ways to avert future occurrence, and give any other recommendation that is essential in the circumstances.
“The committee was given the mandate to co-opt any person (s) that could help discharge its assignment and submit the report within a week,” the statement read.
Members of the panel include the Head of Civil Service of the State, Commissioners for Works, Housing and Transport, Budget and Planning, Justice, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Information and Culture.
Others are the Permanent Secretary I, Government House, State Commander, Federal Fire Service, as the Governor’s Office will provide the secretary of the Committee.
