THE Birnin-Kudu Old Boys Association has expressed deep sorrow over the death of its former president and ex-Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Galadima, who passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, after a prolonged illness.
According to a press statement sent to News Point Nigeria by Mahmud Ibrahim Kwari, National Publicity Secretary of BIKOBA, the late Galadima died at the age of 78.
He was the fourth president of the association, having served two consecutive terms between 1993 and 1997, and was a member of the 1971 class chapter.
Reacting to his passing, the President of BIKOBA, Ja’afar Usman Muhammad (Turakin Gaya), described the deceased as an astute football administrator and one of the most influential figures in Nigerian sports.
He noted that after serving the association diligently as its fourth president, Galadima went on to hold several key positions at both national and sub-national levels, including serving as Commissioner of Information in Kano State.
Muhammad added that Galadima’s tenure as Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation from 2002 to 2006 was marked by notable achievements that contributed to the growth and development of the sports sector in Nigeria.
He further highlighted that the late administrator also served with distinction as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, where he played a significant role in promoting sports at both grassroots and elite levels.
According to the BIKOBA president, Galadima was also one of the founding fathers of Kano Pillars FC, laying a solid foundation for the club’s rise into a dominant force in Nigerian football. He added that the late sports administrator’s legacy, leadership, and passion for the game would continue to be remembered in the club’s history.
On behalf of the executive committee and entire membership of the association, Muhammad extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, his friends, the government, the people of Kano State, and the wider Nigerian football community over what he described as an irreparable loss.
He also prayed that Almighty Allah grants the late Galadima Aljannatul Firdaus.
