SUSPECTED bandits have reportedly abducted at least five female students from the Federal University in Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State.
A relative of one of the victims, Muhammad Fatima confirmed the abdcution to newsmen.
According to Fatima, the gunmen stormed the off-campus dormitories behind Mariamoh Ajiri school, close to Wednesday Market in Dutsinma and forcefully took away the young women.
She disclosed that three of the abducted students hailed from Kwara State, one was from Kano, and another was from Niger State.
The students from Kwara were identified as Muhammad Fatima, Bello Fatima Zara, and Adam Rahmatallahi. However, the names of the two remaining students have not been identified at this time.
The incident follows closely on the heels of another kidnapping just 12 days ago, where dozens of female students were taken from another Federal University in Zamfara State.
The Police Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq when contacted by News Point Nigeria, also confirmed the incident via telephone.
He explained that one suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident, stating that the investigation was still ongoing with a view to rescue the abductees from the hands of the hoodlums.
“Yes, it is true, the incident has taken place but we have already arrested one suspect for now in connection with the incident and we are investigating the incident to unravel the circumstances surrounding it please,” Aliyu added.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no information concerning the situation of the victims as their captors had yet to contact their families.
