HEAD Coach Eric Chelle, on Thursday, released the final 23-man squad list for the Super Eagles B ahead of the 8th African Nations Championship, which will take place across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from August 2 to 30, 2025.
Among those named are team captain Junior Harrison Nduka, defender Sikiru Alimi, and forward Godwin Obaje. Also included are goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena Ani, defenders Sodiq Ismaila and Stephen Mayo Egbe, midfielders Hadi Haruna and Alex Oyowah, and forwards Anas Yusuf, Ijoma Anthony, and Sikiru Alimi.
The squad, which has been in training for several weeks at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, will depart Nigeria for Zanzibar on Thursday evening aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
The Nigeria Football Federation has lined up a second-phase training camp for the team in Zanzibar from July 25 to 31. During this period, the 2018 CHAN silver medallists will also engage in two international friendly matches against the Senior National Team of Zanzibar. The matches are scheduled for July 28 and July 31.
According to the NFF, “arrangements have been firmed up” for the friendly encounters, which are expected to fine-tune the squad ahead of the tournament.
Nigeria, who also secured bronze in the 2014 edition, are placed in Group D of the 19-team competition. They will face defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo in the group stage.
The Super Eagles B are scheduled to play their first two matches — against Senegal and Sudan — at the Amman Stadium on the island of Zanzibar. Their final group match against Congo will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
