PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu on Monday celebrated Alex Sigman, his longtime friend and colleague from Chicago State University, Illinois, the United States.
The Nigerian leader stated this at the launch of the Renewed Hope Mechanisation Programme in the Nigerian capital city Abuja.
Tinubu said the launch of 2,000 tractors and other farm implements at the event was part of Nigeria’s bilateral deal with the European nation Belarus on the mechanisation of farming to eradicate poverty and make Nigeria a partner in food sovereignty.
The event was graced by the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Viktor Karankevich; and Tinubu’s Chicago colleague Alex Sigman.
During his address, Tinubu said, “My dear very good very, the story must be clear here. Alex Sigman. We were together at the Chicago State University.
“To all of you, Alex was my very good neighbour and we went to the same school with me in Chicago.
“Never did we dreamt that I would be in this position as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that Alex will be a successful businessman from Belarus to bring about a very successful collaboration and bilateral relationship that would promote economic prosperity for the future of our two countries.
“I believe our university will be very proud that we are doing this here today.
“We are proud of what you are doing. I believe that you are happy with what is happening here today. More grease to your elbow.”
