THE Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked allegations that its delegates were stranded while travelling for the party’s national convention in Abuja, insisting that all logistics were properly handled.
In a statement sent to News Point Nigeria on Saturday, the Lagos APC spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, described a report by Sahara Reporters as inaccurate and sensational, maintaining that delegates from the state were neither abandoned nor inconvenienced.
According to the party, all accredited delegates from Lagos State were conveyed to Abuja in a “coordinated, orderly, and comfortable manner,” contrary to claims that they were left stranded at airports or motor parks.
The statement further noted that upon arrival in the Federal Capital Territory, the delegates were provided with “decent and adequate accommodation,” ensuring their comfort throughout the exercise.
“The claim that Lagos delegates were stranded is completely false and does not reflect the reality on ground,” the party said, adding that arrangements were carefully planned to guarantee a smooth experience for participants.
The Lagos APC also clarified that the state government, led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, does not fund party activities, stressing that such responsibilities fall within the internal structures of the political party.
It described attempts to link the state government to the alleged logistical challenges as “misleading” and aimed at confusing the public.
“APC, as a political organisation, independently manages its logistics and finances through established party mechanisms,” the statement said.
The party went further to accuse the publisher of the report of a pattern of disseminating unverified and misleading information for ulterior motives.
Without naming individuals, the APC alleged that the platform behind the report has a history of promoting “falsehoods and sensational claims” designed to misinform the public.
It also questioned the credibility of the publisher, describing the report as “laughable” and raising concerns over what it termed a conflict of interest, noting that the publisher is also an opposition figure occupying multiple roles within his political party.
The Lagos APC urged Nigerians to exercise caution when consuming political reports, especially those with sensational headlines.
It advised the public to rely on credible and verified sources of information to avoid being misled.
“We urge members of the public to scrutinise sources carefully and avoid falling for misleading narratives,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment, the party stated that it remains focused on strengthening internal unity and supporting governance in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
The statement concluded by reiterating the APC’s dedication to ensuring successful party activities and maintaining organisational discipline.
