MALAM Dahiru Shekarau, a retired Permanent Secretary and senior brother to former Kano State Governor and Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, has passed away.
The announcement of his death was made on Tuesday by Sule Ya’u Sule, PhD. According to the statement, Malam Dahiru died on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
He was described as a respected elder and accomplished civil servant who served the public with dedication before his retirement from the Kano State civil service.
Funeral prayers (Janaza) are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Giginyu Jumu’a Mosque in Kano by 10:00 a.m., in accordance with Islamic rites.
Family members, associates, political leaders and members of the wider Kano community are expected to attend the burial prayers to pay their final respects.
Malam Dahiru Shekarau was known for his quiet disposition and years of service in the state’s administrative structure, rising to the rank of Permanent Secretary during his career in public service.
His passing has drawn condolences from friends, associates and well-wishers, who described him as a man of integrity and discipline.
In the announcement, prayers were offered for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdausi.
