THE Federal Government has honoured 17-year-old Nafisah Abdullahi, winner of the TeenEagle Global Finals competition, with a cash gift of ₦200,000 in recognition of her exceptional achievement on the global stage.
The award was presented on Thursday by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, at a ceremony in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Alausa described Nafisah’s triumph as a testament to the intellectual potential of Nigerian youths, noting that her performance in the international competition had brought pride not only to her family but also to the nation.
“Nafisah’s achievement proves that when given the right opportunities, Nigerian students can compete and win globally.
“She embodies the excellence and resilience that define our young people,” the minister said.
In addition to the government’s recognition, the Atiku Abubakar Foundation (AAF) had earlier rewarded the Nigerian TeenEagle champions, Nafisah Abdullahi, Rukaiya Fema, and Khadija Kalli with fully-funded scholarships.
In a letter dated August 5, 2025, and signed by the Acting Secretary of the AAF, Prof. Ahmadu Shehu made available to News Point Nigeria, the Foundation said it was proud of the girls’ accomplishments, describing their victory as a remarkable success worthy of national celebration.
“The Atiku Abubakar Foundation is delighted to learn of your outstanding performance at the TeenEagle Global Finals, where you emerged as global winners in various categories of the competition,” the letter read.
The three Nigerian teenagers competed against participants from 69 countries in different categories of the prestigious international academic contest.
Nafisah, in particular, stood out for her mastery of English language, critical thinking ability, and strong articulation skills, which enabled her to clinch the top prize.
Nafisah and her peers are expected to serve as youth ambassadors, encouraging more students to embrace intellectual competitions as a platform to showcase their talents globally.
