KANO State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has applauded the exceptional academic performance of students sponsored by his administration to pursue higher education in India.

During a visit to the students at Sharjah University in India, Governor Yusuf expressed pride in their dedication and accomplishments, describing their success as clear proof of the benefits of investing in education.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor affirmed that the resources allocated to the scholarship program were wisely spent, as the students had surpassed expectations with their remarkable academic results.

Governor Yusuf emphasized his administration’s unwavering commitment to advancing education, highlighting that nurturing young talents is central to his government’s vision for a prosperous Kano State.

The governor also revealed that his visit provided an opportunity to engage directly with the students, addressing their challenges and gathering valuable insights from the pioneer batch of over 400 students sponsored to various universities in Uganda and India as part of the 100:1 Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme.

According to the statement, the visit enabled the governor to conduct an on-the-spot assessment, aimed at enhancing preparations for the next set of beneficiaries, both for foreign and domestic scholarships, to ensure the completion of the 100:1 initiative before the end of his first tenure.

This initiative, Governor Yusuf noted, reaffirms his administration’s belief in education as a transformative tool for societal growth and development. His visit serves as an inspiration for students to strive for academic excellence, both at home and abroad.
