Forum Of Former ANPP Stakeholders Disowns Reunion Meeting, Pledges Support For Tinubu, Shettima

    By Hamza RufaiMay 3, 2025
    ANPP

THE Forum of Former ANPP stakeholders has disowned an alleged fake ANPP renuion meeting led by one of it’s members.

In a statement signed by the Forum’s National Coordinator, Dr Umar D Duhu and National Secretary, Chief Livinus Agala Opuakpa made available to News Point Nigeria, Friday, the forum Pledges its support to the government of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

According to the statement, the initiative, spearheaded by an individual whose intentions and ulterior motives, seeks to subvert, ridicule and bring to disrepute the current APC Government and its Leadership.

“The concept behind this meeting is fundamentally flawed, aiming to denigrate and bring into disrepute the revered Offices of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Our Executive Governors, Honourable Ministers and National Leadership of Our Great Party who are of the former ANPP extraction.

“It is an unconcealed attempt to exploit grievances, create divisions, and foster an atmosphere of animosity and rancor within our party, rather than utilizing established internal mechanisms for addressing concerns.

“We find it mystifying that the organizer of the so-called meeting have chosen to disregard the significant opportunities afforded the former ANPP Members within the APC Government. We have the detribalized Vice President, Hon. Ministers, and other notable very senior Party Leaders who were from the former ANPP and who have worked and continues to work tirelessly to positively impact numerous lives, and their contributions must be recognized and appreciated’.

    PRESS STATEMENT:

Nigerian TAX Reform - Federal Goverment

DISCLAIMER: THE SO-CALLED FORMER ANPP REUNION MEETING.

We are compelled to express our profound dismay and disquiet regarding the so-called purported ANPP reunion meeting. The initiative, spearheaded by an individual whose intentions and ulterior motives, seeks to subvert, ridicule and bring to disrepute the current APC Government and its Leadership.

The concept behind this meeting is fundamentally flawed, aiming to denigrate and bring into disrepute the revered Offices of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Our Executive Governors, Honourable Ministers and National Leadership of Our Great Party who are of the former ANPP extraction.

It is an unconcealed attempt to exploit grievances, create divisions, and foster an atmosphere of animosity and rancor within our party, rather than utilizing established internal mechanisms for addressing concerns.

We find it mystifying that the organizer of the so-called meeting have chosen to disregard the significant opportunities afforded the former ANPP Members within the APC Government. We have the detribalized Vice President, Hon. Ministers, and other notable very senior Party Leaders who were from the former ANPP and who have worked and continues to work tirelessly to positively impact numerous lives, and their contributions must be recognized and appreciated.

Furthermore, we question the credibility and authority of the self-proclaimed coordinator of the meeting, curiously, he is reportedly a member of the Labour Party. He officially resigned and decamped from the APC through a letter he personally signed at the twilight of the 2023 General Elections and addressed same to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Imo State who is also the Chairman Progressives Governors Forum.

Therein, he alleged the ANPP as a party of poor reward system and as at today, there is no empirical evidence that he has rejoined Our Great Party the APC either at his ward or state levels before he start bamboozling innocent former members of the ANPP into a meeting that is questionable. Does he really possess the legitimacy to organize Loyal ANPP Members who are legitimate integral part of APC? His involvement raises serious concerns about the true intentions and motivations behind this meeting. We pray their real intention will come to the fore and be nipped in the bud immediately.

The timing of the meeting is equally suspicious, coming as the government is less than Two (2) years into another APC tenure. While we are far away from the 2027 elections, let alone the 2031 elections that the so-called coordinator is harping on. What a spurious agitation?

The move by the imposter appears to be a deliberate attempt to:

    1. Discredit the current APC Government and by extension the former ANPP Leaders within the party, by sowing seeds of discord, mistrust, and acrimony.

    2. Undermine the leadership of our Great Party, portraying them as unappreciative of God’s Will, unresponsive to the needs of their constituents, and inept in their governance. These assertions indeed, sufficed at the so-called reunion meeting.

We condemn this initiative in its entirety, deeming it provocative, inciting, undemocratic, and a flagrant attempt to destabilize our Great Party and disassociate ourselves from the entirety as genuine, bonafide and honest former ANPP Member. Any further actions not in tandem with the believes of our members, as responsive Party Leaders will be met with staunch resistance, and we assure all that our united front as bonafide APC Members shall prevail.

We are not unaware of some challenges in the economy but it is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, it is a global phenomenon, and is surmountable under this APC Government.

We will not be swayed by divisive tactics or succumb to the whims of individuals seeking to undermine our party’s cohesion and unity. Instead, we must focus on strengthening our Great Party, promoting unity, and working towards the common goal of advancing the interests of our Nation and its People.

We are solidly behind the Government of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and our very own His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima GCON, our respected Executive Governors, Distinguished Senators, Hon. Members of the House of Representatives, Leaders of thought, Notable National and State Party Leaders, like Rock of Gibraltar and no individual, association or forum or tendencies can swayed us from this noble support.

We urge all our Leaders to remain vigilant, steadfast, and committed to the values and principles that have always guided our party. Together, we shall overcome this challenge and emerge stronger, more united, and more determined than ever.

For and behalf of the ‘FORUM OF FORMER ANPP STAKEHOLDERS’
    Signed;

DR. UMAR D. DUHU         CHIEF LIVINUS AGALA OPUAKPA
    National Coordinator        National Secretary

HON. RASAQ FOLORUNSO        HON. Barr. Akinbola Muyiwa Abel
