Four Dead, Others Missing In Nasarawa Boat Accident

IN Nasarawa Eggon, tragedy struck as a boat carrying farmers from Ubbe District capsized while crossing a river in Hunki village, Awe LGA killing four farmers and others missing.

The incident occurred on Monday night as the farmers were returning from their rice farm.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Alkali Congo, Shedrack Dauda, Mashack Dauda, and Akolo Moses.

Reports state that the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the village for proper identification by their families.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident to News Point Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon.

Nansel confirmed that local divers had recovered four corpses, while the boat’s driver and a few others remain missing.

“Yes, it happened yesterday. The farmers were returning from the farm when the boat capsized.

“With the assistance of local divers, four corpses were retrieved, and one person was rescued but a few others are still missing.

“The search for the missing persons is still ongoing.

“The Acting Commissioner of Police expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for God’s comfort in this difficult time,” Nansel said.
