THERE is a reported unease in the Federal Civil Service as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu allegedly moves 20 agencies and parastatals to the Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), News Point Nigeria gathered.
Many top officials and directors in the civil service see this move as govt’s plans to embark on a big sack sweep in the agencies.
According to the official website of the SGF’s office Saturday morning, the following agencies are directly under the supervision of the SGF:
National Pension Commission
Federal Road Safety Corps
Bereau Of Public Enterprise
National Commission For Refugees
Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission
National Hajj Commission Of Nigeria
National Energy Council
National Lottery Trust Fund
National Agency For Control Of Aids
Nigeria National Merit Award
National Lottery Regulatory Commission
Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission
New Partnership For African Development
SERVICOM
Federal Character Commission
Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission
Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI)
Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission
National Salaries, Incomes And Wages Commission
Border Communities Development Agency
Its a surprise that the National Hajj Commission was also seen on the list as President Tinubu, in June, returned the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to the Office of Vice President (VP) Kashim Shettima for supervision.
This newspaper can not confirm if Hajj Commission has now left the supervision of the VP’s office but the commission is enlisted on the SGF’s supervisory agencies.
A Director, Admin, in one of the above listed agencies, who spoke on condition of anonymity told News Point Nigeria that there is a confirmed report of these changes but they are yet to receive a circular to that effect.
But according to another source, a director in the SGF’s office, “There is no such plans by the govt, its just an issue with the managers of the website but no such change and if there is, I will know. Its from the old listing”.
All efforts to speak to the Director Information, Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola and the Director Information in the Office of the SGF, Willy Bassey proved abortive as text messages and calls were not repsonded to and returned as at the time of filing this report.
