THE immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has congratulated Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe on his emergence as the new national chairman of the ruling party, calling the appointment both strategic and timely.
In a personally signed statement released on Thursday made available to News Point Nigeria, Ganduje expressed full confidence in Yilwatda’s ability to lead the APC effectively, describing him as a man of intellect, maturity, and administrative depth.
“His emergence comes at a very critical period in the life of our party,” Ganduje said, urging members to rally behind the new chairman for the good of the APC and the nation.
He also commended the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) and other party organs for overseeing a transparent and consensus-driven selection process, which, according to him, reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy.
Dr. Ganduje, who resigned from the position earlier this month, urged Yilwatda to build on the institutional legacies and reforms initiated during his tenure.
“Just as I built upon the efforts of those before me, I believe Prof. Yilwatda will consolidate and advance our party’s progressive agenda,” he added.
He also extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for what he called their “statesmanlike leadership” in ensuring a seamless transition.
“Our President and Vice President have once again demonstrated their deep commitment to party unity and democratic principles,” Ganduje noted.
As he bowed out, Ganduje reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the APC, pledging to continue offering his experience and support whenever needed.
“I assure Prof. Yilwatda of my brotherly solidarity and guidance. I call on governors, lawmakers, party faithful, youth, and women groups to give him their full backing,” he said.
He emphasized that unity, loyalty, and discipline must remain the guiding principles of the party under the new leadership.
Concluding his statement, Ganduje prayed for wisdom, strength, and courage for his successor, and promised to remain an active contributor to the APC’s mission and Nigeria’s democratic development.
