Ganduje: Getting Rid Of An Anchor Pulling Kano Down

THE people of Kano State have spoken, and they have chosen a new leader to steer them forward. In the recently concluded gubernatorial election in Kano state, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf was declared the winner and governor-elect of the state. This victory is not just a win for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) but for the people of Kano, who have suffered under the weight of poor governance and underdevelopment in recent years.

    BORNO PATRIOTS

Abba’s victory presents an opportunity for the people of Kano to turn the tide and change the narrative. The governor-elect has a wealth of experience in governance, having served in various capacities. During his service as the Commissioner for Works and Housing, he oversaw several projects that had a positive impact on the people of Kano, including the construction of flyovers, underpasses, schools, and road infrastructure.

Abba’s triumph sends a strong message to politicians in the state and the country as a whole that the people will no longer tolerate leaders who put their personal interests above the interests of the people. The people of Kano have spoken loud and clear, and they have chosen a leader who they believe will put their interests first and work tirelessly to improve their lives.

As Abba prepares to take the reins of leadership in Kano state, he faces a daunting task. The state has a lot of catching up to do in terms of development, and the people’s expectations are high. However, with his experience and track record of tasks accomplishment, there is no doubt that he is up to the task.

For too long, Kano has been dragged down by an anchor of corruption, bribery, nepotism, and mismanagement. The state, which is one of the most populous in Nigeria and a key economic hub, has been struggling with basic amenities like water, healthcare, and education. The state’s economy has also been stagnant, with no progress made in job creation or economic development.

One of the key issues that Abba campaigned on was the need to tackle corruption head-on. Corruption has been one of the biggest challenges facing Kano state, and it has had a significant impact on the state’s development. The governor-elect has promised to tackle corruption at all levels, from top to bottom. He has also pledged to ensure transparency and accountability in governance, which will go a long way in restoring the people’s trust in their leaders.

Another challenge that Kano has been facing is the issue of unemployment. The state has a large youth population, which is currently facing a high level of unemployment. This has resulted in social vices such as drug abuse, phone snatching, and other criminal activities.

The governor-elect has promised to tackle this issue by creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state. Abba has promised to attract investors to Kano by improving the state’s infrastructure and creating a favourable business environment. He has also promised to provide training and skills development programs to help young people acquire the skills they need to be employable and self-reliant.

The issue of education is also a major challenge that Kano has been facing. The state has a large number of out-of-school children, especially in rural areas. This has resulted in a low level of literacy and numeracy among the population. The governor-elect has promised to tackle this issue by investing heavily in education and providing the necessary resources to ensure children have access to quality education. This will include the construction of new schools and the rehabilitation of existing ones, as well as the provision of training and support for teachers.

Nigerian TAX Reform - Federal Goverment

In addition to the challenges mentioned above, Kano also faces issues of poor infrastructure, inadequate healthcare facilities, and a lack of basic amenities such as water and electricity. The governor-elect has promised to address these issues by investing in the necessary infrastructure and providing the necessary support to ensure that the residents of the state have access to basic amenities and services.

In conclusion, Abba’s victory is a victory for the people of Kano and a step in the right direction towards building a better and more prosperous state. His election as the new governor of Kano state presents a new opportunity for the state to overcome its challenges and set itself on a path of progress and development. With his stewardship, the state has the potential to become a shining example of good governance and development in Nigeria. It is our hope that the governor-elect will deliver on his promises and lead Kano state to greater heights.

Kano State has never been through a severe and blatant nepotism and corruption than it has under the governance of Rabi’u Kwankwaso who Abba Kabir aims to continue.
Abba Kabir is the first inexperienced politician to govern Kano state in history. Apart from the Commissioner for works and housing what other important positions Abba Kabir held in order to amass the necessary leadership and governance experiences to lead wisely in Kano?
