THE All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the keenly contested Ganye State Constituency by-election in Adamawa State, with Hon. Misa Musa Jauro declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Returning Officer, Prof. Tukur Ahmed, announced that Jauro polled 15,923 votes, narrowly defeating his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 15,794 votes. The slim margin of 129 votes highlighted the tense and highly competitive nature of the race.
In a congratulatory message, prominent APC chieftain Umar D. Duhu hailed the victory as “a testament to the unwavering support of the people” while stressing that the result should serve as a wake-up call for the party ahead of future elections.
“This slim margin serves as a reminder that there is still work to be done. We must continue to strive for excellence and unity if we are to replicate this success in 2027 and beyond,” Duhu said.
Duhu urged APC leaders, stakeholders, and members to guard against complacency, describing the win not as an end but as a “call to action.”
He emphasized that internal cohesion and grassroots engagement would be vital for the party’s prospects in the 2027 general elections.
He also advised party loyalists to extend goodwill to their opponents in the spirit of democracy.
“As APC faithfuls, we must avoid mocking those who contested against us. Instead, we should acknowledge their efforts and strengthen our democracy through inclusion and cooperation,” he added.
The APC chieftain reiterated the party’s commitment to upholding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria, urging members across the country to consolidate this victory by working towards unity and building a prosperous party that can lead beyond 2031.
The by-election, conducted under tight security, recorded significant voter turnout, with both APC and PDP showing strong support bases in the constituency.
For many observers, the razor-thin margin underscores the growing competition in Adamawa politics, setting the stage for what promises to be a fierce contest in the 2027 general elections.
