Gaza: Deaths, Injuries Reported As Israeli Forces Attack Refugee Camp, Hospital

MEDICAL sources told newsmen that at least one person was killed and a number of others injured in an Israel strike on a residential building in the Yabna refugee camp in southern Gaza’s Rafah area.

Though declared a so-called “safe zone”, Rafah is one of the cities in southern Gaza Strip that has experienced intense bombardment in recent days, as Israel widened its ground military operation since the end of the truce a week ago.

We will bring you more details on this strike as soon as we gather more information.

The Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabalia offered refuge to thousands of displaced Palestinians seeking shelter from intense fighting in northern Gaza.

Cut off from electricity and water by Israel’s military, and with Israeli bombardments killing more than 100 people in the nearby Jabalia refugee camp on Wednesday morning, the UN’s humanitarian office reports that the hospital has now been evacuated.

Al Jazeera visited the hospital where a Dr Mohammad told how overstretched medical staff were as they were being “flooded by dozens, if not hundreds of victims”.
