THE Give For Good Project has trained and empowered several youths in Kano in the areas of culinary education, basic cooking and baking skills, News Point Nigeria reports.
The project which was founded by alumni of the YES Program and IRIS, Khadija Sulaiman Jebu and Fatima Nasir Umar is a project committed to addressing SDGs for a brighter, equitable, and more sustainable future.
The project was partially funded through GYSD Mini Grants (through the YES Program, American Councils and US Department of State) organised a week of training from April 15th to the 21st, 2024, for female youths in culinary skills to help reduce the rate of unemployment, which is one of the biggest challenges facing Nigerians.
The trainees were 15 youths between the ages of 16-25, who later trained two other participants, making 30 indirect beneficiaries.
The activities of the project included providing the beneficiaries with culinary education, basic cooking and baking skills, and teaching them how to expand and manage their businesses.
The beneficiaries were also given a startup box at the end of the training containing all the necessary items to start their own businesses and teach others.
The body also collaborated with Nana Asmau Initiative for Human Development, Cha Foundation, Ayce Foundation, S Fari, and Deejas Chop – all helping with some resources for the project.
The graduation ceremony was graced by dignatiries like Prof. Gaji Dantata, Ahmad Muhammad, Umar Gombe, Dr. Sufi, Prof Aysha Wada and Kaka Hauwa Babura, who provided the beneficiaries with an additional capital of N10,000 naira each.
