GOMBE State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has commissioned the 27-kilometre Kuri-Nasarawa-Lambam-Gelambam-Dasa Talasse Junction Road to boost rural connectivity and inclusive development.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Governor assured residents that the road network would be further extended to link Kembu, Kidda and Panda communities to the Kuri axis in order to enhance agricultural activities, and improve economic integration.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya disclosed that just two days earlier, the State Executive Council approved the construction of 19.9-kilometre Mararraban Kwaji-Jagali-Jarawa-Maikaho-Tsando-Dandela to Dasa Road.

“We promised you, and by the grace of God, we have delivered. You elected us, and we assured you of this road,” the Governor stated.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya also directed the immediate reconstruction and upgrading of the deteriorated stretch from Kuran Mota (Kuri Junction) to Kuri Bridge, originally constructed by the previous administration.

The occasion also witnessed the defection of hundreds of supporters to the All Progressives Congress (APC), who cited the Governor’s leadership style and developmental strides as reasons for aligning with the ruling party.

At the Palace of the Emir of Deba, Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who holds the traditional title of Dolakin Deba, stated that the establishment of Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) would strengthen traditional institutions and accelerate grassroots development.

“It is our hope that these LCDAs will eventually evolve into fully recognised Local Government Areas as provided for by the Constitution,” he said.

The Governor emphasized that population growth and increasing social demands require proactive planning, noting that Gombe State’s population has grown from less than two million to over four million.

He reiterated that security, education, healthcare and other essential services remain fundamental rights of citizens and assured that his administration is taking deliberate steps to meet those obligations.

Earlier, the Emir of Deba, HRH Alhaji Ahmed Usman, commended the Governor for executing impactful projects across the Emirate and the state at large.

At the Palace of the Emir of Yamaltu, Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who is also the Baraden Yamaltu, expressed satisfaction with the renovation of the Emirate Council executed through the Joint Project Development Agency.

Despite limited resources, he said, the administration has recorded measurable achievements across sectors, including the establishment of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park in Dadinkowa to stimulate job creation and economic prosperity.

He stressed that security remains a collective responsibility and called on residents to safeguard public infrastructure and investments.

Responding, the Emir of Yamaltu, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, appreciated the Governor for fulfilling campaign promises and exceeding expectations through initiatives such as the creation of LCDAs, the Industrial Park, and new road projects linking rural communities.

While inspecting the ongoing Garin Bukar Bridge project, the Governor explained that his familiarity with the terrain informed his decision to collaborate with the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for its execution.

He assured residents that upon completion, the state government would construct connecting roads to link Tsando and surrounding communities.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the project and urged continued public support for sustained development.

In Dadinkowa, the Governor laid the foundation for the Yamaltu East LCDA Secretariat.

He announced that elections for LCDA Chairmen and Councillors would be conducted in the coming months and urged youths to actively participate in grassroots governance.

Similarly, in Zambuk, Governor Inuwa Yahaya performed the groundbreaking for the Yamaltu West LCDA Secretariat, reiterating that the bill seeking constitutional recognition for the LCDAs has passed first, second, and third readings at the National Assembly and is nearing completion.

He disclosed that indigenous contractors were deliberately engaged for both Yamaltu East and Yamaltu West projects to promote local ownership and participation.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area, Hon. Abubakar Hassan Difa, commended the Governor for executing developmental projects in the area.

Also speaking, the member representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Inuwa Garba, stated that the Governor’s developmental strides motivated his decision to align with the APC.

The lawmaker attributed the peace currently enjoyed in Gombe State to the deliberate and strategic leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, expressing optimism about supporting Inuwa-led administration efforts to move Yamaltu/Deba and Gombe State forward.

Also Speaking, Hon. Musa Manager Zambuk, the member representing Yamaltu West in the Gombe State House of Assembly, expressed the appreciation of his constituents for the creation of the Yamaltu West LCDA.

In his separates remarks during the groundbreaking ceremonies, the Director-General of the Joint Project Development Agency, Dr. Mahmud Yusuf, assured that the LCDA secretariats would be equipped with modern facilities and completed within four months.

The Governor also inspected the NALDA Market in Kwadon, where internal roads were constructed and solar-powered streetlights installed to improve commercial activities.

At every location visited, jubilant crowds welcomed the Governor and his entourage.
