THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has cleared Professor Isa Ali Pantami, Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and Usman Aliyu Garry to participate in the party’s fresh governorship primary election.
In a statement issued on Friday, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Abdulkadir Ahmed Dukku, said the three aspirants had been cleared to contest the rescheduled primary election.
News Point Nigeria reports that a Federal High Court sitting in Gombe on Thursday, September 24, nullified the governorship primary earlier conducted by the party and ordered the PDP to conduct a fresh election within one month.
Dukku said the party had consequently fixed Tuesday, September 29, 2026, for the repeat governorship primary, with eligible card-carrying members expected to participate in the voting process.
“Following the nullification, the PDP wishes to inform all its card-carrying members that there will be a gubernatorial repeat primary election on Tuesday, 29th September, 2026. All eligible voters are expected to assemble at their respective ward areas to vote an aspirant of their choice,” he said.
In a separate statement, the party said it had received the court judgment in good faith and respected the decision of the court.
The PDP also welcomed the aspect of the judgment that validated the membership and entry procedures of Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami into the party, as well as his participation in the May 2026 governorship primary.
“The judgment is presently receiving the attention of the party leadership and contestants. While the legal implications and directives contained in the judgment are being studied, we urge all members, supporters and stakeholders of our great party in Gombe State to remain calm, peaceful and united,” the statement added.
Dukku further stated that the Supreme Court verdict delivered on Thursday evening by Justice Adamu Jauro did not affect Pantami’s eligibility to participate in the rescheduled governorship primary.
He therefore urged members of the party to refrain from speculation and inflammatory statements capable of creating tension within the party and the state.
The PDP spokesman assured members and supporters that the party would take all necessary steps within the law to protect its interests and preserve its democratic integrity as it proceeds with the fresh governorship primary.
