THERE was pandemonium and anxiety on Monday at Ryan Nursery School in Tudun Wada, Gombe, in Gombe State, as a security guard of the school was found dead and hanged on a swing used by pupils for playing.
Teachers and pupils of the school arrived at the school in the morning after resuming from the weekend break only to be confronted with the gory sight as their ‘gateman’ known as Malam Abdullahi was seen hanged and dangling on a swing, which was made available for pupils to play during break periods.
The incident also attracted the attention of the residents of the area who trooped to the school premises to remove the dead body from the swing.
This newspaper gathered that Abdullahi was found dead and his neck was tied with a rope attached to the swing while a chair allegedly used by him while on duty was beneath his legs, a development suggesting that he committed suicide.
However, as at the time of filing this report, it was not certain whether the deceased security guard committed suicide or was murdered by unknown person(s).
When contacted, the spokesman of the Gombe State Police Command, Mahid Muazu Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, stated that it was a case of suspected suicide and that they were investigating the incident to ascertain the actual cause.
