Gov Buni Recruits 3,199 Workers In Four Years

AS part of his administration’s commitment to empowering the people of Yobe state, Gov Mai Mala Buni has provided over 3,199 civil service jobs since assuming office in 2019.

In a statement signed by Governor’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Digital & Strategic Communications, Malam Yusuf Ali, he said that Buni recruited Teachers, Engineers, Lawyers, Medical Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and other fields of profession as an immediate measure to reduce the level of youth unemployment and improve service delivery to the people.

Recall that in 2019, Gov. Buni approved automatic recruitment into the state’s healthcare service of 37 Midwives of set 2 of the Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, Damaturu.

Also, in 2020, despite the darkness and uncertainty of the COVID-19 outbreak, a global pandemic which dislocated our normal existence and shut down the economy, Gov. Buni recruited 54 into the state civil service for Yobe youths.

In 2021, Gov. Buni employed 27 Pharmacists to improve the manpower of the Yobe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency for the effective services and additional improvement in healthcare delivery in the state.

In May 2021, Gov. Buni approved recruitment of 54 new Nurses 2020 graduates of the Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery. According to the governor, the employment more Nurses is necessary following the establishment, expansion and upgrading of more health institutions across the state.

In 2022, Gov. Buni also approved employment of another set of 134 health personnel 12 Nurses, 67 indigenous graduates of Midwifery and 55 Community Nurses who graduated from the Shehu Sule College.

Again, in 2022, Gov. Buni approved employment of 196 Graduates of College of Health Science and Technology, Nguru. The personnel covers 23 Pharmacy Technicians, 60 Medical Laboratory Technicians, 62 Dental Surgery Technicians and 51 Health Information Management Professionals and approved automatic recruitment of another sets of 27 health personnel to take care of the manpower needs of the health institutions in the state.

Just weeks ago, Gov. Buni announced a massive employment of 2,670 Graduates into the civil service to fill existing gaps required for efficient service delivery in the state.

The breakdown of the beneficiaries include 890 University Degree graduates, 890 Higher National Diploma and National Diploma holders, and 890 National Certificate of Education graduates.

The beneficiaries were drawn across the 178 political wards of the 17 local government councils.

Gov. Buni, who noted that the administration has provided all parts of the state equal opportunity and sense of belonging, assured that his administration would continue to provide opportunities to the people to fastrack growth and development of the state.

It is indeed amazing that at a time when many states are still struggling to pay workers’ salary and some are even downsizing workforce because of dwindling fortunes of the national economy, Gov. Buni is recruiting and recruiting more giving permanent and pensionable jobs in the civil service.

The Boko Haram insurgency in the land, just when it appeared we were gradually recovering from the destruction and carnage it has left in its wake, then Covid-19 dislocation has definitely added an extra burden on rebuilding efforts which the fragile economy has to grapple with.

It is, therefore, against this bleak landscape that the Yobe State Government is providing 2,670 jobs in the State Civil Service for Yobe youths.

This is indeed quite impressive and commendable because to employ 2,670 youths at this trying time, is a clear sign that the Gov. Buni administration is one that has the interest and welfare of Yobe youth at heart.

The decision to employ  the youths Graduates into the State Civil Service is even more awesome when one realizes that this is coming at the same time when outstanding infrastructural projects are been completed and commissioned.
