KANO State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to financial inclusion and economic empowerment, particularly for women and youth, as he commissioned the Kano branch of Signature Bank on Tuesday.
News Point Nigeria reports that tthe Governor described the establishment of the bank in Kano as a testament to the state’s investor-friendly policy and business-enabling environment, assuring the management of Signature Bank of the state government’s full support and cooperation.
Governor Yusuf noted that his administration’s economic blueprint is rooted in empowerment and access to finance for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), adding that such institutions are critical agents of growth, innovation, and job creation.
“We are open for partnership and collaboration with all financial institutions to create an affordable and sophisticated business environment that supports entrepreneurs and drives prosperity,” the Governor said.
He acknowledged the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions of financial institutions in complementing government’s efforts towards youth empowerment, job creation, and economic growth.
Governor Yusuf also commended the Sabon Gari business community for its commitment to prompt tax payment, which he described as a major contribution to the state’s revenue and economic stability.
While welcoming Signature Bank to Kano, the Governor assured the Managing Director, Mr. Nixzon Iwedi, and his team that the state remains a promising market for financial growth and innovation.
in his remark, the Emir of Kano His Highness Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II said deepening the financial sector is central to our development vision. Kano is a good market, and I can assure you that Signature Bank will not regret its decision to operate here in Kano.
The event, attended by His Highness, Emir Muhammad Sanusi II, and other dignitaries include the Managing Director of the Signature Bank Mr. Nixon Iwedi, underscored the growing confidence of investors in the Kano business environment under the leadership of Governor Yusuf.
