THE Department of State Services (DSS) has dismantled what it describes as a high-value arms supply network allegedly linked to a series of deadly attacks across Plateau State and neighbouring northern states, arresting a major suspected arms manufacturer.
In a statement sent to News Point Nigeria on Sunday, the DSS confirmed that its operatives apprehended Musa Abubakar, described as a key arms dealer and fabricator, following an intelligence-led operation on November 12, 2025.
According to the agency, Abubakar was arrested at his workshop located in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, where he allegedly produced firearms, ammunition, and explosive components for armed groups responsible for violent attacks in the region.
During the raid, security personnel reportedly recovered a cache of weapons-making materials, including:
Components of improvised explosive devices (IEDs)
Chemical substances used in arms production
Tools and equipment for weapon fabrication
Partially assembled weapons
“The suspect confessed to having manufactured and distributed high-calibre weapons and ammunition to armed groups involved in violent attacks in Plateau State and other northern regions,” the DSS statement added.
The security agency said the arrest followed “credible and precise intelligence” indicating Abubakar’s connection to a broader network responsible for supplying arms to terror groups operating along the Plateau–Kaduna–Nasarawa axis.
The arrest comes amid renewed nationwide operations targeting criminal cells and escapees from the July 2022 Kuje Correctional Centre attack.
Recently, the DSS announced the recapture of Abdulazeez Obadaki, popularly known as Bomboy, a high-profile fugitive linked to the Owo Catholic Church massacre and the Deeper Life Church attack.
Earlier this month, the agency also revealed the arrest of nine additional suspects, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol, believed to have ties to local and transnational terror networks.
The DSS said the latest operation represents a significant breakthrough in its efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics and degrade armed groups’ operational capacity in the North-Central region.
The agency urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue providing actionable intelligence to aid ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
