IT was indeed a bleak weekend for the APC family in Jigawa state, as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of former deputy governor, Ahmed Mahmoud Gumel received hundreds of supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Babura Local Government Area.
The ceremony was attended by the PDP chieftains, notably among them are Senator Ibrahim Musa Kazaure, former Jigawa State Governor, Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, former Jigawa State Deputy Governor, Ahmed Mahmoud Gumel, PDP gubernatorial candidate and his deputy, Dr. Mustapha Sule Lamido and Babandi Ibrahim Gumel, PDP Chairman, Ali Diginsa, DG campaign Council, Nasiru Umar Roni, his deputy, Nasiru Mohammad Sparrow, Alhaji Bashir Aminu (Yarima Dutse) among several others party chieftains.
News Point Nigeria learnt that, barely three weeks after the former Jigawa state deputy governor moved to PDP, the ruling APC in Jigawa continued losing its followers to the opposition PDP across the state for what they described as “loss of hope and deceit” from the leadership in the last eight years of APC’s rule in Jigawa.
Speaking at the occasion held at Babura local government, Jamilu Dan Alaramma said, “we are the bonifide members of PDP in Babura LG before the former Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki took us to APP later to ANPP but now he is back to PDP we must follow him.
“However, the role played by our political mentor, the former deputy governor, Ahmed Mahmoud Gumel has really encouraged us to decamp to PDP, we will always be with him any where no matter the terrain because he is a grassroot politician and political mobilizer not only in Jigawa state but in Nigeria at large.”
Also speaking, Muntari Sani Imam explained that, they decided to dump the ruling APC to PDP considering the commitment and determination of PDP despite the fact it has no power in the last 8 years, added that following the political move of the former deputy governor, Ahmed Gumel to PDP they deemed it necessary to join him to compliment his effort in making the party victorious in the 2023 elections.
Muntari Sani further called on other APC supporters to dump the party as it has failed to satisfy the yearning and aspirations of its teeming electorates, saying “PDP is here again it will restore the loss glory of Nigeria and Nigerians, we are suffering, the APC led President Muhammad Buhari has thrown NIgerians into untold hardship”. He further lamented.
Also in a speech, Kamilu Nasiru said that their defection will not be intimated by any group or individual, they are tied of empty promises and tissue of lies and deceits by the APC government in Jigawa, noted that, previous PDP government has done a lot to Jigawa and its citizen, it has uplifted the status of the state from local government headquarters to mini mecca of thoughts.
News Point Nigeria reliably gathered that, with the coming on board of former deputy governor, Ahmed Mahmoud Gumel, more APC supporters in Jigawa will soon join PDP ahead of the general elections.
