    How Jigawa Killer Bride, Ex-Lover Connived To Poison Groom, Wedding Guests

    TWO weeks after a wedding ceremony in Jigawa State turned tragic, leaving one guest dead and the groom critically ill, events took a new turn with the arrest of the bride and her ex-lover.

    This newspaper reports that the incident, which occurred in the Jahun Local Government Area of the state, took a new turn following the arrest of the bride and her ex-lover by police investigators.

    Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the bride’s actions may have been allegedly driven by a personal vendetta.

    Although the police have yet to officially confirm the motive of the suspects and the exact circumstances that lead to the tragic wedding situation, as it was gathered that investigations were still ongoing over the matter.

    However, the police preliminary findings revealed that the bride, Zahra’u Dauda, 15, and her ex-lover, Lawan Musa, 22, allegedly conspired to poison the groom’s food.

    Investigations so far conducted by the police further indicated that, “The groom, Kamisu Haruna, 29, and two of his friends ate the food together, resulting in stomachaches. One of the friends was confirmed dead at the hospital.”

    The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, in a statement on Saturday, further confirmed the arrest of the two suspects and made their names public.

    “We have arrested the bride and her ex-lover in connection with the alleged food poisoning incident,” Adam said.

    “One Zahra’u Dauda, ‘f’, age 15 years, of Bagata Gabas village conspired with her ex-lover, one Lawan Musa, ‘m’, age 22 years, also of Bagata Gabas Yamma village, all in Kiyawa LGA, to poison her husband’s food, one Kamisu Haruna, ‘m’, age 29 years of Albasu village, Jahun LGA,” the police spokesperson disclosed.

    “The husband and his two friends ate the food together, and as a result, they both developed stomachaches.

    “The victims were rushed to the hospital, where one of the groom’s friends was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on call. The case is under investigation,” the SP Adam statement noted.

    Adam, therefore, revealed that more investigation was ongoing, and the police are working tirelessly to unravel the facts.

    “We will do everything within our power to ensure that justice is served,” he insisted.

    “The incident occurred two weeks ago, and the police have been investigating the matter since then. The bride and her ex-lover are currently in police custody and being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department of the command,” he highlighted.

    The police spokesperson, Adam, urged the public to remain calm and assured that justice will be served, adding that, “We are working to unravel the facts, and we will provide more details as soon as possible.”

    Similarly, the police spokesperson have confirmed that all the wedding attendants who consumed the poisoned food have been discharged from the hospital, except for the one person who was confirmed dead.

    Meanwhile, the identities of the deceased groom’s friend have not been disclosed by the Police authority.

    The Jigawa Police authority has urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
